Cancer is a scary topic and one that many people do not want to think about, but it’s important that you know what to do and how to get tested so you can catch cancer in the early stages. In our two-part series, we want to help you understand oral cancer and what you can do to prevent it.

To begin, we will take a look at the two kinds of screening methods that are done to check for oral cancer. Oral cancer is actually one of the most curable forms of cancer when caught early enough.

There are two main types of screenings, OralCDx and Vizilite Plus.

OralCDx uses a brushing technique to determine if you have any harmful cells in your mouth that have the possibility of developing into cancer.

Vizilite Plus works by checking your soft tissue and can detect if any of that tissue has a chance of becoming oral cancer.

Both of these tests are easy to complete and can help save your life.

There are some factors that increase your likelihood of oral cancer, such as using tobacco products or drinking alcohol. These are not the only things that can cause oral cancer, but they are some of the more common reasons.
